Mumbai Rains highlights: High tide in the next few hours amid IMD's yellow alert; Mumbai University postpones exam

Mumbai rains LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert for isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra today, July 26. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai has issued a yellow alert for the financial capital and Palghar today. In addition to this, an orange alert has been issued in Thane, Sindhudurg, Pune and Kolhapur. Meanwhile, Satara, Raigad and Ratnagiri are on red alert today. 

The RMC said, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall in city and suburbs. Possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. Occassional gusty winds reaching 60-70 kmph very likely."

The IMD issued a nowcast warning at 7:00 am suggesting “moderate spells of rain" at isolated places during the next 3-4 hours. Palghar, Raigad, Thane, Ratnagiri, Mumbai districts and ghat areas of Pune and Satara will feel the impact of the predicted downpours

In an update shared by BMC, it said that Tansa Lake, one of the lake supplying water to the Mumbai, started overflowing at around 4:16 PM on Thursday. Three gates of the Tansa Dam were opened to release water at a rate of 3,315 cusecs. The full storage capacity of Tansa Lake is 14,508 crore liters.
