They reached Delhi with the trophy on 4 July after lifting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 at Barbados on 29 June. The players reached ITC Maurya Hotel where they were greeted with special breakfast prepare by the hotel. After which they left to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. As per current update, they reached Delhi airport and will now head to Mumbai for the victory parade.
In the morning, outside Delhi airport and ITC Maurya, fans had gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite cricketers. Crowds shouted "India, India" after they landed in New Delhi from the Caribbean.
The players, coaches, support staff, and other members were supposed to take a flight to the USA from Barbados and then fly to India via the UAE. However, as Barbados was on high alert due to the threat of Hurricane Beryl since 30 June.
After two days of delay, the BCCI arranged a chartered flight for the entire team and their families to return home together. Along with the Indian contingent, India's media professionals were stranded there and have also been offered to take the special chartered flight arranged from Barbados to Delhi.
According to the reports, PM Modi is expected to meet with the World Cup winners at around 11 am in Delhi. On 29 June, India defeated Aiden Markram-led South Africa at Barbados by seven runs in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 finals.

As per Mumbai Traffic police, In view of Victory Rally of Indian Cricket team, the traffic movements are likely to be congested from NCPA to Wankhede stadium from 15:00 to 21:00 hrs on 4th July. Users are advised to use alternate route via Churchgate, M.K. road, Metro Junction to Princess Street flyover towards north bound journey. The South bound traffic towards Wankhede Stadium also likely to be congested. Requested to plan journey accordingly.
The DGCA has requested a report from Air India regarding allegations that an aircraft scheduled for a regular flight was used to transport the Indian cricket team from Barbados. There are concerns that Air India substituted the aircraft intended for a Newark to Delhi flight, causing inconvenience to passengers. In response, an Air India official stated that most affected passengers were informed in advance, with those unaware accommodated on an alternative route from New York to Delhi after the cancellation.(PTI)

As per media reports, DGCA asked Air India for a report following reports that the airline substituted a scheduled flight from Newark to Delhi with a Boeing 777 to transport India's T20 World Cup team from Barbados, reportedly causing inconvenience to the original flight's passengers.
Air India cancelled a Delhi-bound New York flight on Tuesday, July 2, which was diverted to pick up the Rohit Sharma-led T20 Indian Cricket team from Barbados. An airline official told LiveMint that passengers who were scheduled to travel via the NY-Delhi commercial flight were allocated to a separate flight today and had been informed of the cancellation status beforehand.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the Indian team is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Modi between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister's office, rather than at his residence as initially planned. Earlier, PTI report stated that the Team will meet PM Modi at 9 am. Prior to that, the schedule time was 11 am.

Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the road show of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team in Mumbai on Thursday evening, an official said on Wednesday. The victorious team will take part in an open bus road show followed by a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in South Mumbai after arriving from New Delhi. The victory procession will be held between 5 and 7 pm from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium, the official said. As a large number of cricket fans are expected to gather to watch the procession, police are taking utmost precaution to avoid any untoward incident, he said. Adequate police personnel are being deployed at Marine Drive between Nariman Point and the Wankhede Stadium, the official said.
