IPL 2025 Purple Cap
In the IPL 2025 Purple Cap race, CSK's Noor Ahmad grabbed the purple cap back from LSG's Shardul Thakur. Noor Ahmad continued his impressive start to the 2025 IPL season by taking another 3-wicket haul, this time against RCB. Noor took 4/18 vs MI and 3/36 vs RCB. Shardul Thakur is 2nd on the list with 6 wickets from 2 games
A Purple Cap is presented to mark the most wicket-takers in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Purple Cap winner keeps on changing during the course of the tournament as and when which cricketer is topping the charts at the particular point of time.
Former Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir, who played for Rajasthan Royals, was the first recipient of the Purple Cap in the inaugural season in 2008 for his 22 wickets in 11 games.
West Indies Dwayne Bravo and Bhuvneshwar Kumar hold the record for winning the Purple Cap twice in history. Overall, there have been 13 different Purple Cap winners in 17 seasons so far.
It is also to be noted that that a 30-wicket mark was breached thrice in the history of IPL with Dwayne Bravo (2013), Harshal Patel (2021) and Kagiso Rabada (2020).
