YouTube Music unveils new features, including Speed Dial for quick access to frequently replayed music.
PremiumYouTube Music has unveiled a significant update, introducing a range of new features that are either already available or coming soon. The newly added features have been designed with user feedback and the overall user experience in mind. A standout feature is the introduction of generative AI, allowing users to create custom playlist artwork.
The new AI feature is quite intriguing, as previously, playlists on YouTube Music only displayed the artwork of the first four tracks in a grid format. However, with this new update, users now have the option to incorporate their preferred images using generative AI technology.
T. Jay Fowler, the director of product management at YouTube Music, announced this feature by stating that the company is introducing an experimental feature for YouTube Music users in the United States who prefer English. This feature leverages generative AI to craft personalized playlist artwork.
This feature is currently in the experimental phase, indicating that it is still undergoing testing. It has been rolled out exclusively in the United States, but the company intends to extend its availability to other regions in the near future. Users can choose from various categories and utilize pre-written prompts, allowing them to modify specific words to generate diverse images in various styles.
The provided categories currently include Colors, Cycles, Travel, Moods, Nature, Animals, Landscapes, Food and Drinks, Fantasy, Workout, and Humor.
In addition to this, there's another intriguing feature called Speed Dial, which serves as a revamped version of 'Listen Again.' According to YouTube, it enables users to swiftly return to the music they're replaying frequently.
This feature will be situated in the Home Tab, although it will not be accessible immediately. As mentioned in the YouTube blog, “In the coming months, we'll be launching a new feature on the Home tab that will help you quickly explore and listen to the songs and artists you've got on repeat."
Previously, a carousel would display 20 items, but now, there are nine items arranged in a 3x3 grid format. These items may encompass songs, albums, and playlists. When an item is tapped, it instantly begins playing in a mini player rather than in a full-screen window. The post also mentioned several newly introduced features for users, including a dedicated comments feature for YouTube Music, timed lyrics, Create a Radio, and the Samples tab.
