ADANI V. HINDENBURG: THE SHORT SELLING SAGA

In January, 2023, US-based investment research firm Hindenburg published a detailed report on the Adani Group stocks. In the report, it alleged various counts of fraud by the Gautam Adani-led group. Shortly before Hindenburg released the report, it shorted all of the listed stocks by Adani. A bloodbath on the bourses followed: $111 billion worth of investor wealth was wiped out in a few days following the public release of the report.
