Sebi meet will take up short-selling issue

Mumbai: The board of stock market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India will meet on 22 March. The meeting is expected to focus on issue of introducing short-selling (sale of shares without owning them) in Indian bourses. Since the markets turned volatile in May 2006, there has been a demand to allow short-selling by instituitional investors—both domestic and foreign.
