Highlighting the key concern areas in ICICI Bank's Q4 results 2024, Kotak Securities said, "Key concern would be the progress of NIM as the cost of funds is yet to peak, especially with slower CASA growth. Deposit mobilization is likely to be another key area of discussion."
Speaking on ICICI Bank's Q4 results preview for FY24, Shreyansh V Shah, Research Analyst at StoxBox said, "ICICI Bank is likely to post mid-teen annual growth in net profit in the fourth quarter, driven by healthy loan book growth, especially in retail and SME segments. The NIIs are also anticipated to show mid-single-digit growth along with traction in PPOP. We expect the asset quality to be stable, with lower sequential credit costs on the back of reversal of AIF provisions."
According to most brokerages, the private sector lender is likely to post steady net profit with a rise in loan growth and NIIs in the March quarter.
Yes Bank's net profit at ₹454 crore vs ₹202.4 crore (YoY)
“YES Bank may report a muted performance in terms of Net Interest Income (NII) and Net Interest Margin (NIMs) both on quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and year-on-year (YoY) basis. The lender's asset quality also may remain under pressure, while pre-provisioning operating profit (PPOP) may also fall on rising cost of funds. NIM's and NII will be lower as well due to higher cost of funding. Overall focus will be on the guidance, outlook on asset quality, majorly cost of funds and return of assets after the Q4 numbers,” Aditya Agarwala, Co-founder and Head of Investment and Research at Invest4Edu, said.
Speaking on the expected Yes Bank Q4 results today, Avinash Gorakshkar, Head of Research at Profitmart Securities said, "Yes Bank is expected to deliver better Q4FY24 numbers on YoY but the numbers may not beat its performance on a sequential basis. The major reason for this is the falling net interest margins of all Indian banks including Yes Bank. However, the market is experiencing a rise in the deposits due to the rise in clientele of the private lender." Gorakshkar maintained that Yes Bank's net profit may rise YoY but business guidance will be crucial.
A special CBI court in Mumbai that granted bail to Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor in a fraud case has observed that any further incarceration without trial would amount to a "pre-trial conviction" of the banker on April 20. Kapoor walked out of jail on Friday evening after being granted bail by special CBI Judge M G Deshpande in the last pending case against him, also involving the Avantha Group. Kapoor was arrested in March 2020 in a money laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He was booked in eight cases by ED and Central Bureau of Investigation related to fraud at the Yes Bank. The court, in its order that was made available on Saturday, said there is no justification as to why the applicant, who has already spent over 4 years in custody for numerous other cases, should be detained further, especially when he has been granted bail in all other cases. Kapoor's continued detention "would amount to pre-trial conviction", the judge said.
