Air India unveils its new logo as part of its rebranding

Air India Rebranding Live: Air India unveiled its new brand identity and aircraft livery on August 10 as part of its rebranding, representing the airline's bold vision of its future. The Tata Group-owned airline's brand-new aircraft livery and design features a palette of deep red, aubergine, and gold highlights, as well as a chakra-inspired pattern. Travelers will also begin to see the new logo throughout their journey starting December 2023, when Air India’s first Airbus A350 enters the fleet in the new livery.

Tata Sons' Chairman N Chandrasekaran unveiled the new Air India logo comprising red, golden, and purple colours saying that it represents the airline's bold vision of its future. ‘’The new logo that you see here today… the vista signified by that historically used window (the peak of the golden window signifies limitless possibilities, progress, confidence and all of it'', said Chandrasekaran.

Earlier this year, Air India's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson had announced that the airline was preparing to introduce a host of new services as part of the rebranding journey. The rebranding of the airline follows Tata Sons' complete acquisition of Air India, which was completed in January 2022. Through the company's fully-owned subsidiary, Talace Private - Tata Sons acquired a 100 per cent stake in Air India.

Air India Rebranding Live: Changes in cabin interiors

The transformation of Air India’s fleet has begun with the airline leasing and buying 20 widebody aircraft this year. A $400 million programme to completely refurbish the interiors of its legacy fleet of 43 widebody aircraft commences mid-2024, which will lead to the installation of brand-new seats in every cabin, new inflight entertainment systems, and inflight Wi-Fi internet connectivity. 

By March 2024, 33 per cent of the airline’s widebody fleet will be upgraded, and over the next two-and-a-half years, its entire long-haul fleet will be reborn, said Air India's in its statement.
