Delhi Elections 2025: Amid an ongoing blame game over Yamuna River poisoning allegations, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday claimed that a team of Delhi Police and Election Commission arrived to raid Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's home in the national capital.
“BJP people are distributing money, shoes, sheets in broad daylight - that is not visible. Instead, they go to raid the residence of an elected Chief Minister,” said Chief Minister Atishi in a post on X.
“Wow BJP! People of Delhi will give their answer on 5th [sic],” she added.
The development comes less than 24 hours after police seized a private vehicle bearing the "Punjab government" sticker and registration number, which was found loaded with liquor, cash and AAP election publicity materials.
Meanwhile, security has been deployed outside Kapurthala House, the official residence of the Punjab CM in Delhi.
However, the Election Commission refuted the allegation of any interference or raid.
"EC does not conduct any raid nor interfere in any investigation. Flying Surveillance Team/FST acted on the basis of a complaint raised on C-Vigil app, which is open for the public to report on the violations of MCC, if any. Based on this, an action was initiated," said a statement from the EC.
"The complaint was of money distribution on the C-Vigil app, which has to be disposed of in 100 minutes, hence the team was there," EC added.
Addressing a rally, Mann said that without any reason, the Chief Minister's residence in Delhi is being raided by the Election Commission in collaboration with the Delhi Police.
“BJP people go around and distribute money. They challenge the EC by tweeting, but the Election Commission is sitting with its eyes closed. They see only Aam Aadmi Party members to raid with false allegations,” Mann added.
Slamming the EC for rejecting his explanation on claims that the Yamuna river was deliberately poisoned, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal accused the poll body of playing politics by sending him a notice.
“I want to say ECI, with respect, they (ECI) can't see money being distributed openly in Delhi. They can not see blankets being distributed in the city.... ECI is doing politics because Rajiv Kumar wants a job post-retirement,” said Kejriwal.
"I want to say to Rajiv Kumar that history will not forgive you. Rajiv Kumar has made a mess of the poll body," reported ANI, quoting the AAP leader.
Responding to Kejriwal's explanation, the EC asked him not to mix issues of increased ammonia in the Yamuna River with his serious allegations of Yamuna poisoning with mass genocide.
