Haryana Election Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE: As voting in Haryana wrapped up at 6 pm for 90 Assembly seats, all eyes now turn to the exit polls that will determine whether the BJP can secure a historic third consecutive term, or if the Congress and AAP can disrupt their momentum.

With a diverse array of candidates—including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and prominent figures like Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat—Haryana's political landscape is set for a dramatic showdown. As the state prepares for counting day on October 8, the stakes are high for all major parties involved.

The voter-turnout at 5 pm was recorded at 61%. According to the Election Commission of India, Mewat topped the turnout charts with 68.28 percent, while Gurugram had the lowest turnout at 49.97 percent. Voting in 90 assembly seats in Haryana began at 7 am on October 5, Saturday. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Olympian Manu Bhaker were among early voters. Khattar said he is confident that the BJP will win 50 of the 90 assembly seats in the state. Congress leader Deepender Hooda took a dig saying that last time, the BJP said it would cross 75 seats, but stopped at 40 seats. “Today, they were saying they will get over 50 seats, so you can imagine the number of seats they will get," he added.

The key contesting parties in Haryana include BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as well as the pre-poll alliance between Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP).

A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 assembly constituencies, and 20,632 polling booths have been set up for voting. A total of 2,03,54,350 voters in the state will be able to exercise their rights in the 15th Haryana Legislative Assembly Elections. Meanwhile, the security has been tightened ahead of the assembly election.

The last Assembly elections took place in October 2019. Following the election, the Bharatiya Janata Party joined forces with the Jannayak Janta Party to form the state government, with Manohar Lal Khattar assuming the role of Chief Minister.

Key things to look at: Will BJP be able to retain power for a third consecutive term? Or will it be comeback for Congress after a decade-long hiatus? Who will be the next Haryana CM?

Haryana Election Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE: What are Exit Polls?

Exit polls are immediate surveys conducted as soon as voters finish casting their ballots, aiming to capture their sentiments right after the election process. Unlike traditional opinion polls that gauge voter preferences beforehand, exit polls ask individuals who they actually voted for, enhancing their reliability.

These polls begin to surface right after voting concludes on election day, with interviewers engaging voters as they exit polling stations. In India, the concept of exit polling was largely pioneered by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) in Delhi during the 1960s, marking a significant development in electoral analysis.
