With a diverse array of candidates—including Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and prominent figures like Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat—Haryana's political landscape is set for a dramatic showdown. As the state prepares for counting day on October 8, the stakes are high for all major parties involved.
The voter-turnout at 5 pm was recorded at 61%. According to the Election Commission of India, Mewat topped the turnout charts with 68.28 percent, while Gurugram had the lowest turnout at 49.97 percent. Voting in 90 assembly seats in Haryana began at 7 am on October 5, Saturday. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Olympian Manu Bhaker were among early voters. Khattar said he is confident that the BJP will win 50 of the 90 assembly seats in the state. Congress leader Deepender Hooda took a dig saying that last time, the BJP said it would cross 75 seats, but stopped at 40 seats. “Today, they were saying they will get over 50 seats, so you can imagine the number of seats they will get," he added.
The key contesting parties in Haryana include BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as well as the pre-poll alliance between Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP).
A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in all 90 assembly constituencies, and 20,632 polling booths have been set up for voting. A total of 2,03,54,350 voters in the state will be able to exercise their rights in the 15th Haryana Legislative Assembly Elections. Meanwhile, the security has been tightened ahead of the assembly election.
The last Assembly elections took place in October 2019. Following the election, the Bharatiya Janata Party joined forces with the Jannayak Janta Party to form the state government, with Manohar Lal Khattar assuming the role of Chief Minister.

Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) General secretary Digvijay Chautala said on Sunday that Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was given a "dead snake" by Bharatiya Janata Party, and he could not control the damage done to the state, which might be the reason for BJP being voted out of power.
"The situation is clear that BJP is going out of Haryana. The situation is bad for BJP in Haryana, I have been saying this from day one, that BJP will not even understand what happened to them," he told ANI.

Haryana Election Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE: Bhupinder Hooda, Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister, on Sunday said that the people of the state had already made up their mind to bring the party to power a long time ago.
“I want to thank all the voters of Haryana for conducting a peaceful election. Exit polls came yesterday but I have been saying this for a long time: people have made up their minds to bring the Congress party to power with a huge majority," PTI quoted Bhupinder Hooda as saying.
He added, "Congress was in power from 2005 to 2014 and people have seen our achievements and when the BJP-JJP was in power from 2014 to 2024, people have seen how they failed."

Haryana Election Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE: Haryana recorded 61 percent of voter turnout till 5 pm on Saturday across all the 90 assembly seats in the single-phase assembly polls in the state.
According to the data of the Election Commission of India, Mewat leads with 68.28 per cent voter turnout while Gurugram has recorded the lowest voter turnout of 49.97 percent till 5 pm.

The results were announced on October 24.
The BJP formed a post-poll alliance with JJP and even other independent MLAs to form the government. In 2019, the BJP under Manohar Lal Khattar emerged as the single largest party but fell short of a majority.
It won only 40 seats. Subsequently, it forged a post-poll alliance with Dushyant Chautala's JJP, which got 10 seats and seven other independent MLAs.
INLD got only 1 seat while Congress managed to win 31 seats.
Haryana Election Exit Poll Results 2024 LIVE: According to the EC guidelines, any violation of the exit poll rules and guidelines may lead to legal action, including fines and imprisonment.
“The restriction applies to all forms of media, including newspapers, television channels, radio, online news portals, social media platforms and messaging services like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc. It also applies to political parties, candidates, polling agencies and any individuals engaged in election-related activities," a statement by EC said earlier.
