Haryana Municipal Election Results 2025: Counting of votes for Haryana's municipal elections began at 8 am, marking a critical electoral test for both the Congress and BJP after assembly polls. Results will also be declared for Gurugram, Panipat and Hisar Nagar Nigam election today.

Haryana Municipal Election Results 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to sweep the Haryana muncipal elections as it registered victories in nine of the ten Mayoral elections including in Gurugram, Panipat, Faridabad and Hisar on Wednesday. Independent candidates won the remaining Mayoral election. The drew blank.

The results of the Haryana municipal elections are being declared today. The counting of votes began at 8 am, poll officials said. The results for 10 mayors and councillors of 40 municipal bodies will be declared today.

BJP candidate Raj Rani won Gurugram mayoral polls by a significant margin. She defeated her Congress rival, Seema Pahuja. The saffron party's candidate Rajiv Jain also won the Mayor by-election of Sonipat Municipal Corporation by defeating Congress candidate Kamal Dewan with a margin of 34,766 votes. 

The BJP has won the mayoral polls in Rohtak and Sirsa too, the Haryana Election Commission said. In Rohtak, BJP candidate Ram Avatar Valmiki emerged won by a margin of 45,198 votes. In Sirsa, BJP candidate Shanti Swaroop has won by a margin of 12,779 votes, the poll panel website said. 

BJP wins Nagar Palika of Julana

The BJP won the chairman's post in the Nagar Palika of Julana, the assembly constituency of Congress MLA and wrestler Vinesh Phogat. 

Manesar, near Gurugram, has elected its first-ever Mayor, with independent candidate Dr Inderjit Yadav securing victory by 2,293 votes. Yadav clinched 26,393 votes, defeating BJP’s mayoral candidate Sunder Lal, who secured 24,100 votes. 

The results today will be first electoral test for the Congress and the BJP after the saffron party won assembly polls in Haryana in October last year.

Forty-six per cent of the more than 51 lakh eligible voters exercised their franchise for civic body polls in Haryana on March 2, Sunday. Voting was held to elect mayors and ward members in seven municipal corporations.

Additionally, the results of mayoral by-elections in Ambala and Sonipat municipal corporations were announced today. Both seats went to the BJP. Panipat’s municipal corporation elections were held separately on March 9.

Elections were also held on March 2 for the president and all ward members of four municipal councils of Ambala Sadar, Pataudi Jatoli Mandi, Thanesar, and Sirsa. Bypoll were held for the post of president in municipal council Sohna, in Gurugram district.

26 ward members elected unopposed

As many as 26 ward members have already been elected unopposed. Among them, Kuldeep Singh (Faridabad), Vikas Yadav (Gurugram), Sankalp Bhandari and Sanjeev Kumar Mehta (Karnal), and Bhavna (Yamunanagar) secured unopposed victories in their respective wards in municipal corporations.

Three ward members were elected unopposed in Ambala Sadar and Thanesar, while 18 others won unopposed in various municipal committees across the state.

Congress Vs BJP in Gurugram

The results today will be first electoral test for the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the saffron party won assembly polls in Haryana in October last year.

The Congress contested municipal polls Haryana for the first time. The BJP deployed the top state leadership for the elections. The BJP defeated the Congress in Haryana assembly polls held late last year.

The Congress has never contested the municipal polls on its symbol except the mayoral elections to three municipal corporations in December 2020.

CM Saini thanked people

In bypoll in Ambala, BJP's Shailja Sachdeva leads was all set be the next mayor. Sachdeva is ahead of Congress's Amisha Chawla, according to local media reports.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini thanked the people of Faridabad for breaking the national record in municipal and mayoral elections. “Nowhere in the country has such a massive victory been achieved in municipal elections as the one given by the people of Faridabad,” he said.
