Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has come out in support of the ban on Pakistani artists in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The tourist killing in Kashmir's Pahalgam region led to the death of 26 people.
Following the attack, tension between India and Pakistan continue to rise.
Amid this, Suniel Shetty told PTI, “Everything should be banned with anybody who tries to disturb our peace and kills innocent people. Anything and everything should be banned. Cricket, movies, everything. First correct what has been done wrong and then everything will be right again... We come from a place where we say dharma, karma and seva.”
"The honourable Prime Minister has given the Army the responsibility of taking the decision and I think the men in uniform will do what they have to do. We stay one, we stay united and don't allow anybody to spread hatred. That's all we need to do as responsible citizens," he added.
Suniel Shetty is currently promoting his film, Kesariya Veer. The movie, stars Sooraj Pancholi as the lead alongside Vivek Oberoi. It will be released in theatres on May 16.
On Wednesday, Instagram accounts of several Pakistani artists were found unavailable in India. Accounts of Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar among others were seen displaying the same message which read, "Account not available in India.”
While no information regarding the decision has been disclosed by the platform so far, the note also mentioned, “This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
Meanwhile, Fawad Khan's upcoming film Abir Gulaal with Vaani Kapoor is also facing boycott calls in India. The film has been reportedly banned in Pakistan.
Following this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reiterated its directive to ban Pakistani artists. Abir Gulaal is slated for its release on 9 May. It marks the official Bollywood comeback of Fawad Khan.
However, interestingly Fawad's Instagram account remains available for his Indian fans on the platforms. Singer Atif Aslam's Instagram account is also available in India along with only a few other artists from the neighbouring country.
