However, most attendees aren’t paying out of pocket — companies and fashion labels typically purchase tables, which start at $350,000 for 10 seats, the same as last year. These brands then invite celebrities, influencers, and industry insiders to fill those seats, turning the gala into a curated showcase of fashion partnerships and star power. The Met Gala will host approximately 400 guests this year, continuing its tradition of exclusivity. The guest list, closely guarded by event organizer Anna Wintour and the Costume Institute, is expected to feature a mix of A-list actors, musicians, designers, athletes, and rising talents.

Theme and dress code: Black Dandyism in the spotlight

This year’s suggested dress code encourages guests to explore “Black Dandyism” — the refined, flamboyant, and deeply intentional styling rooted in the Black diasporic tradition. The exhibit is organized into 12 sections, each representing characteristics of dandy style as outlined by Zora Neale Hurston, including presence, ownership, freedom, heritage, and respectability. “Whether a dandy is subtle or spectacular, we recognize and respect the deliberateness of the dress,” wrote Monica L. Miller in the exhibit catalog.

The gala’s 450-person guest list spans industries — from athletes and actors to fintech and art. Confirmed attendees include Usher, Simone Biles, Regina King, Janelle Monáe, Spike Lee, Sha’Carri Richardson, Ayo Edebiri, and André 3000.

Bollywood brings glamour to the Met

The 2025 Met Gala is generating major buzz in India as several Bollywood A-listers make their way to the elite event. Shah Rukh Khan is widely expected to make his Met Gala debut, after designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee posted cryptic Instagram Stories reading “KING KHAN” and “KING KHAN BENGAL TIGER,” alluding to his custom look.
