The dividend yield is a financial ratio that shows how much a company pays out in dividends each year relative to its stock price. A dividend yield of 3-5% or more is considered to be good. However, it also depends on the market conditions. Dividend yield is one of the important factors that is considered by investors while investing in dividend-paying stocks. It is an indicator of returns that investors can earn on their shares.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) with an 11% dividend yield over the last 12 months occupies the first place among the top 15 large-cap stocks.
Vedanta and Coal India with a 10% dividend yield over the last 12 months closely follow BPCL as the top large-cap dividend-yielding stocks.
Hindustan Zinc Ltd with a 7% dividend yield over the last 12 months occupied the fourth position.
Indian Oil Corporation and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, the state-owned oil and gas companies, have a 5% dividend yield each over the last 12 months and occupy the 6th and 7th spot, respectively on the list.
Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has a 4% dividend yield over the previous 12 months.
GAIL India Ltd, ITC Ltd , HCL Technologies Ltd, Hero MotoCorp Ltd, Infosys Ltd, Tech Mahindra Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd with 3% dividend yields over the last 12 months also feature among to 15 large-cap names with the highest dividend yields.
Hindustan Unilever with a 2% dividend yield is on the 15th spot in large-cap dividend-paying stocks.
