Stock Market Today: CDSL share price skyrocketed 10% during the intraday trade on Monday, June 2, amid heavy volumes. The NSE-listed stock saw 1.99 crore shares change hands today, much higher than its two-week average volume of 36.38 lakh shares.
Having risen more than 1100% in the last five years, CDSL has proven to be a multibagger stock for investors.
The company recently reported its January-March quarter (Q4) performance and announced a dividend at the start of May.
CDSL had reported its Q4 FY25 financial performance last month on May 3, 2025. Compared to ₹241 crore in the same time last year, its operating revenue decreased by 4% to ₹224 crore. During the January-March 2025 quarter, CDSL's consolidated net profit dropped 22% year-on-year to ₹100 crore from ₹129 crore during the same period last year.
With profits before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) falling 26% to 109 crore and its EBITDA margin shrinking 12.6% to 49%, CDSL reported a slightly weak operating performance in the March quarter.
Subject to shareholder approval, the Board of Directors had suggested a final dividend of ₹12.50 per equity share with a face value of ₹10 per share for the fiscal year 2024–2025.
In August 2024, CDSL had rewarded shareholders with bonus shares at a 1:1 ratio. The suggested final dividend rate, thereby, is the highest for CDSL when taking the bonus shares into account.
CDSL share price opened at ₹1,533.40 on the NSE on Monday, marginally higher than the previous trading session's closing price of ₹1,529.70. However, CDSL share price gained further to intraday high of ₹1680, recording gains of almost 10%.
The gains in the CDSL share price were witnessed despite a weak trend in the Indian stock market. Benchmark index NSE crashed in trade today, shedding over 0.7%.
CDSL shares have seen a stellar rally lately, soaring a staggering 59% from their March closing low of ₹1,059, providing investors with hefty returns in two months. Meanwhile, CDSL share price has risen more than 300% in the last two years and a whopping 1177% in the last five years.
