Jyoti Roy- DVP- Equity Strategist, Angel Broking on India Services PMI

India services PMI for has improved to 49.8 in September from 41.8 in August, signalling further improvement in the services sector. While the services sector has been recovering from post pandemic lows, the recovery is still weak as compared to the manufacturing sector which has been posting a smart recovery as signaled by the manufacturing PMI and auto sales numbers. Indian manufacturing PMI for September improved sharply to 56.8 in September from 52.0 in August and is the highest reading for the indicator since January 2012. The composite PMI reported an expansion for the first time in six months rising from 46.0 in August to 54.6 and signaled a marked improvement across the private sector economy. We expect the services sector to improve gradually from here as more parts of the economy are gradually opened up.

PayTM accuses Google of double standards while bringing fantasy games app back to Play Store

Fintech unicorn PayTM today accused Google of double standards with respect to its policies around fantasy games on the Play Store. In a blog post announcing the return of PayTM First Games on the Play Store, PayTM today said that the tech giant doesn’t allow its real money app to be promoted on Google Play, but it can be promoted via YouTube “by paying hefty fees to Google".

The company said that while PayTM First Games is back on the store, the version you can download is a free app and doesn’t allow real money fantasy gaming. “To put it simply, the Play Store will ban the PayTM app or the PayTM First Games app if we promote our pro app. But it will freely allow YouTube to promote our free app, for a free," the post said. “If PayTM promoted PayTM First Games, then PayTM app would also be violating their ‘policies’. But when YouTube promotes the same PayTM First pro app (for a hefty advertising free), then it is not a violation of such ‘policies’ and suddenly does not create a risk to the customers," the company added.
