Earthquake Highlights: Strong tremors were felt in the national capital and adjoining regions as an earthquake of 4.0 magnitude struck the region early on Monday.
There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries. The epicentre of the quake was in the Jheel Park area of Dhaula Kuan and there were some reports of people hearing a loud sound as the ground shook.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people in the region to stay calm and follow safety precautions while keeping alert for possible aftershocks.

Delhi was struck by an earthquake of intensity four on the Richter scale on Monday. Environmentalist Dr Suman Gupta said that since Delhi falls under seismic zone IV, the chances of aftershocks are low. However, she said that the region has fairly high seismicity, making it prone to earthquakes, though the intensity is expected to remain low.

"There was a loud sound and strong jolts. My wife and I were very scared. The first thing we did was pick up our daughter and rush outside," he said.

This earthquake occurred in Dhaula Kuan. In 2007, an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude had occurred there. There is nothing to worry about. It is a seismic zone there... After 4.0 magnitude, the aftershock will be less by 1.2 magnitude, it is natural as it will heal it..."

An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit Bihar's Siwan on Monday morning at a depth of 10 km, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The tremors were felt at 8:02 am.

The epicentre was located near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan, an official informed PTI.
This area, which is close to a lake, has experienced minor, low-magnitude quakes approximately every two to three years, including a 3.3 magnitude earthquake in 2015. The official also reported hearing a loud sound when the earthquake struck
