India Pakistan Ceasefire LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with Defence minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval and chiefs of all three services at his residence on Sunday, May 11.
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump lauded the "strong and unwaveringly powerful" leadership shown by India and Pakistan in achieving a ceasefire, stating that their courageous decision significantly enhances their legacy.
India and Pakistan had reached a “bilateral understanding” along the Line of Control and International Border on Saturday. However, India said Pakistan violated the “understanding” as drones were sighted in parts of India hours after India announced the “ceasefire”.
“I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to the death and destruction of so many, and so much,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“Millions of good and innocent people could have died! Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions," he said.
"I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade substantially with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done!!!”
Earlier on Saturday, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country would continue to stand by Pakistan in upholding its “sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence”.
Hours after India and Pakistan agreed to halt firing, blasts were heard in Jammu city and projectiles were spotted in the sky. Gunshots and multiple blasts were also heard in Srinagar; while Udhampur was plunged into darkness after a blackout for the third consecutive day.
On Saturday late evening, projectiles were seen in the sky in Jammu city. Shelling was also heard in Akhnoor, Udhampur. Air raid sirens were also heard in Rajasthan's Barmer.
Till date, a complete blackout has been enforced in Udhampur, Srinagar, Moga, Pathankot, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Vaishno Devi Temple, Ferozepur, Patiala, Ambala.
Earlier in the day, India and Pakistan had agreed to halt all firing and military operations on land and in the air starting from 5 PM today, said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
The brief announcement by the foreign secretary came shortly after US President Trump said India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire".
A ceasefire is a situation in which each side agrees with the other to suspend military actions, and halt firing often due to mediation by a third party.

As per FS Vikram Misri, the original escalation began with the Pahalgam attacks on April 22, that killed 26 people, majorly tourists.
Donald Trump also posted about India and Pakistan's ceasefire deal on X, formerly Twitter, stating that the two countries had agreed to a “FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.”

BJP leader Amit Maviya posted in X, “This pause is an UNDERSTANDING, it isn't an AGREEMENT.” He was refering to the “understanding” reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday noon.
The IAF said in a statement on Sunday: "The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives.
“Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” the IAF said.
Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday demanded that an-all party meeting be called while urging political parties not to attend it until the government assures that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present there. He also demanded a special session of Parliament.
"We will not issue any criticism today because this is not the time for criticism. We only want a special Parliament session and an all-party meeting to be called. I want to appeal to all political parties not to attend the meeting until the government assures them that the prime minister will be present at the meeting as well," Sibal was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.,

As there have been reports of no ceasefire violations by Pakistan overnight, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal presses for a special session of Parliament over the India-Pakistan conflict.
He told PTI, "We salute defence forces for befitting reply, people were asking for it... People are with them. I had asked for a special session of Parliament, we did not get answer. Delhi airport authorities on Sunday said operations are normal but some flights and the processing time at security checkpoints might be impacted due to the changing airspace dynamics and enhanced security protocols.

Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said that Russia has assured full support to India in its fight to against all manifestations of terrorism and promised to promptly fulfil military orders in the pipeline.
"Russia assured that it will support us in our battle against all manifestations of terrorism and said the cooperation between the two nations will continue to advance based on existing agreements," Seth told PTI.
After India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire, the son of Kaustubh Ganbote, who lost his life in the #PahalgamTerrorAttack, Kunal Ganbote said that he is satisfied with the steps taken by Indian government. He said, "Whatever steps the government has taken, we are satisfied with it and we support that. The Indian Armed Forces' precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7's Operation Sindoor resulted in the elimination of high-profile terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), including Maulana Yusuf Azhar, wanted for the IC-814 hijacking, sources told ANI.
The Indian strikes on terror nerve centres of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Operation Sindoor on May 7 have neutralised five most wanted terrorists of these organisations, including the mastermind of IC-814 hijacking in 1999, PTI reported citing officials. In a statement posted on the official account of the Information and Public Relations Department, J&K on X, the government said, “The Government of Jammu & Kashmir appreciates all its citizens for their continued resilience and trust in the face of recent developments. All the necessary measures are being taken, and the government is fully prepared and equipped to handle any situation, and there is no cause for alarm.” (ANI)
