Sunil Lahri, renowned for his portrayal of Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's iconic television series Ramayan, has once again expressed his thoughts regarding the differences between the beloved show and the recently released film Adipurush

In his recent remarks, Lahri emphasised the significance of establishing an emotional connection with the audience rather than solely focusing on the glorification of a particular era or characters.

According to Lahri, while Ramayan managed to establish a profound emotional bond with viewers, Adipurush failed to evoke a similar response. He pointed out that, despite the abundance of options in the "OTT-era", Ramayan continued to captivate audiences and achieve unprecedented viewership when it was rerun amidst the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

Lahri expressed his opinion on Adipurush, speaking with Dainik Bhaskar, stating that Prabhas' movie lacked emotional depth and presented various questionable justifications.

He believes that the film failed to define its characters adequately and cautioned against playing with the emotions of the audience, particularly when dealing with a revered epic like Ramayan.

Lahri highlighted the importance of connecting with the emotions of the audience, emphasising that mere excuses cannot justify a lack of engagement. He cited the example of the immense popularity of Ramayan during its rerun, even though there were now 300 television channels, along with the presence of OTT platforms and social media. He stressed that people would feel connected if the content resonated with their emotions.

Reflecting on memorable experiences from the time of Ramayan, Lahri mentioned an instance when the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kailash Chandra Joshi, requested a recording of the show on set so that his wife could watch it while in the hospital.

Also, he reminisced about the cast's visit to Varanasi, where an astonishing crowd of around 10 lakh people gathered just to catch a glimpse of them.
