Bomb alert Air India flight: Mumbai to New York flight receives bomb threat

A New York-bound Air India flight made an emergency landing in Delhi after securities were alerted about a bomb implanted on the aeroplane. The aircraft is currently stationed at the IGI Airport and all the standard safety protocols have been followed, said Delhi Police on Monday.

The Air India flight operated from Mumbai to New York and was diverted to Delhi after the bomb threat. So far, there has been no information about the presence of any explosive object on the aeroplane.

"The aircraft is currently stationed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and all standard safety protocols are being diligently followed to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew on board," a senior police officer told PTI.

Flight AI119 operating from Mumbai to JFK was diverted on the government's instruction to Delhi after it received a specific security alert, according to an Air India Spokesperson.

"All passengers have disembarked and are at the Delhi airport terminal. Our colleagues on the ground are making sure to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption," said Air India in a statement stressing airline's commitment in ensuring the safety and security and security of its passengers and crew.

Few days ago, a fake bomb threat impacted the flight operation on London-Delhi route.A Vistara plane from London to Delhi received a bomb threat on October 9. The plane carrying nearly 290 passengers landed safely in the national capital amid close observation.

According to PTI, a piece of paper with a message about a bomb onboard the plane was found in one of the lavatories and the relevant authorities were immediately informed. All the standard protocols were followed and a thorough inspection of the plane was conducted.

“It was informed that a note was discovered in the lavatory of the flight with the message: 'BOMB THIS FLIGHT',” PTI quoted Delhi Police in a statement. The police also said that all passengers disembarked without incident.
