"Nothing alarming” was found during the inspection of 22 out of the total 34 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, sources told the Hindustan Times on Monday.

According to the report, 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in the Indian fleet were inspected after a London-bound Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad last week.

“Checks on 22 787s have been completed and nothing alarming was found during the surveillance,” one of the officials told HT.

The officials said, “The inspection on the remaining B787 may be completed by Monday”.

The Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. As per the report, Air India had 34 Boeing 787 airframes in its fleet before the crash.

IndiGo reportedly has a 787-9 aircraft, but with a foreign registration.

Air India plane crash

An Air India plane, travelling from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after it took off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12. The plane rammed into the doctor's hostel after the crash.

As many as 241 passengers and crew were killed in the crash. There was only one survivor. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among the dead.

Additionally, at least 33 others, including residents and MBBS students, lost their lives on the ground.

The death toll in the crash is likely to increase. “Determining the total death toll will take time,” Alok Kumar Pandey, the Gujarat government’s commissioner of relief, was quoted by Bloomberg as saying.

According to PTI, 87 victims have so far been identified through DNA matching and 47 bodies have been handed over to their families, officials said on Monday.

Meanwhile, two black boxes have been recovered from the London-bound Air India Boeing 787 that crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, killing 241 people.

Officials told PTI on Sunday that the Cockpit Voice Recorder black box has been found. Earlier, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) had confirmed that only the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) of the ill-fated plane was found.

In the latest development, a team from Boeing and the officials of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), on Monday, arrived in Ahmedabad to inspect the site of the Air India plane crash.

An investigation is underway to find the reasons that led to the tragic incident on June 12.
