According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Delhi today saw 375 active cases and one death as cases rise in the national capital and there are 81 more cases since yesterday. It reports the death of a “60 years old female with Acute Intestinal Obstruction Post Laprotomy along with Covid 19 finding incidental”.

On May 23, the Delhi Government issued an advisory instructing hospitals to ensure preparedness by maintaining the availability of beds, oxygen, essential medications, and operational equipment like ventilators and BiPAP machines.

‘No panic situation’

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta last week reassured the public that there was no need for concern, highlighting that hospitals were fully prepared to manage any potential increase in cases. “We have details of the Covid-19 cases. Our hospitals have all the facilities. We have also issued an advisory. We have analysed the scenario and there is no panic situation,” she told media, while stating the situation has been thoroughly reviewed.

NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 sub-variants

Various state governments have issued advisories amid the rise in COVID-19 cases to manage the evolving situation.

‘We should be vigilant and always be prepared’

"As of now, the severity is generally low. There’s nothing to worry about. We should be vigilant and we should always be prepared. People do not need to take any immediate action. They should follow normal precautions. There is nothing special to do right now,” PTI quoted Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr Rajiv Behl, as saying.
