Delhi rains today: Heavy rainfall has inundated parts of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram since Thursday as monsoon winds edge closer to the national capital. Less than twenty-four hours of rain have led to severe waterlogging and subsequent traffic chaos across several areas.
On Minto Road in Delhi, overnight downpours resulted in a car submerged in water. Another image captured a truck similarly submerged due to the heavy rainfall.
A video shared by newswire ANI on Friday depicted a four-wheeler floating on a waterlogged road in Delhi. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the monsoon will likely enter Delhi within the next one to two days, offering relief from the scorching summer.
Heavy Delhi rains left several parts severely waterlogged and roads gridlocked. Traffic jams led to significant trouble for the daily commuters.
The pre-monsoon showers have already caused significant disruption, with severe waterlogging reported in ITO, Teen Murti Marg, Moti Bagh, Noida, Dhaula Kuan, and Shanti Path.
The brief rain spell in South Delhi's Govindpuri area, Noida Sector 95, and various other locations has led to intense waterlogging issues.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the weather for the next seven days in Delhi, predicting generally cloudy skies and varying intensities of rain accompanied by gusty winds. Several areas of New Delhi Railway Station were submerged in water, forcing commuters to walk through knee-deep water. Most of them were forced to carry their luggage and their kids carefully to navigate the flooded roads. Water login was also reported from several metro stations of the city, which added woes to the daily office-goers.
Long traffic jams led caused huge delay to motorists in places like 100 Foota Red Light and Lado Sarai Red Light and vice-versa due to waterlogging. Traffic was also affected in both the carriageways on Vir Banda Bairagi Marg due to waterlogging at the Azad Market underpass. There were also reports of uprooting of a tree which disrupted traffic on Mathura Road in the carriageway from Ashram towards Badarpur.
