Delhi Weather Highlights: Several parts of Delhi witnessed mild rainfall on Thursday morning, which improved the air quality of the national capital to ‘poor’ from ‘severe’ category. The cold weather condition persisted as the city woke up to dense fog.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Delhi for January 17 morning. As many as 29 trains and several flight operations were affected due to poor visibility.

The weather forecasting agency has predicted mostly clear sky for Friday with dense fog during morning hours. It may further intensify cold weather in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, etc

In the wake of severe coldwave, Delhi schools reopened on Thursday. The education department announced that school classes would shift to hybrid mode amid enforcement of GRAP 4 measures. However, on Thursday, centre revoked GRAP IV restrictions after AQI improved.

The IMD predicted dense fog in morning, the situation is likely to remain same on Saturday morning as well. On Friday, the minimum and maximum temperature is likely to settle around 19 and 8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Different AQI categories
An AQI between 9 to 50 is considered good and very rare for Delhi. AQI is in satisfactory category when it is between 51 and 100. AQI is in moderate category when it is between 100 and 200. AQI is very poor when its score is between 301 and 400 and severe when it is between 401 and 500.
