PremiumHimachal, Uttarakhand Rain Highlights: More than 50 people and 11 are dead are reported missing in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts due to the incidents of cloudbursts in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu said that rescue and relief operations are ongoing. Amid massive devastation caused by cloudbursts and landslides in Himachal and Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation, reported ANI, citing sources. PM Modi also ordered officials to ensure all possible assistance to the victims of heavy rains and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh.
"Very sad news has been received about more than 50 people missing due to a cloudburst in Rampur tehsil of Shimla, Padhar tehsil of Mandi district and Jaon, Nirmand villages of Kullu. Teams of NDRF, SDRF, Police, Home Guard and Fire Services are engaged in relief, search and rescue operations. The local administration has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations smoothly. I am in touch with the officials and monitoring the relief and rescue operations. The state government is committed to providing all possible assistance," the Chief Minister said in a post.
Meanwhile, flash floods and cloudbursts have caused huge damage in several areas of Uttarakhand. At least ten people died following heavy rain in several areas of the state, informed Uttarakhand State Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman on Thursday. Moreover, hundreds of people were trapped after the concrete bridge and footbridge on the Kedarnath route were damaged by rains.

A statement from the Health Minister's office said, “On the sad news of huge losses and disruption of life due to cloudburst in various areas of Himachal Pradesh, Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda spoke to Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu and assured all possible help from the central government. The BJP President JP Nadda, also spoke to former CM and LoP in the Himachal assembly, Jairam Thakur and the BJP State President and directed all BJP workers to engage in relief work."

A total of 450 pilgrims bound for Kedarnath got stranded beyond Bhimbali along Gaurikund-Kedarnath trek route when 20-25 metres of the stretch were washed out by heavy rain on Wednesday night, news agency PTI reported.
Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said 200 passengers stranded on the Kedarnath route due to falling stones and the washing away of the stretch near the Bhimbali Chowki have been moved to safer places.The process to rescue the rest with the help of helicopters is underway, he said.
"The trek route to the Himalayan temple is blocked by boulders at Ghoraparav, Linchauli, Badi Linchauli and Bhimabali Pilgrims stranded on the trek route to Kedarnath are being brought to the emergency helipad," Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a post on Facebook.
An advisory has also been issued for Kedarnath-bound pilgrims asking them to wait in a safe place until the weather improves and the roads blocked here and there are restored.
Himachal cloud burst: Mandi ADM Madan Kumar said that two bodies have been recovered, 8 people have gone missing and three houses have been destroyed after a cloudburst in Padhar subdivision.
"...the administration started relief and rescue work. SDRF, NDRF, Home Guard and Police teams were moved to the spot. Due to cloudburst and heavy rains, the nearby roads got blocked and bridges broke...," he added.

The Congress leader condoled the loss of lives in the cloudburst incidents in Himachal Pradesh.
"The news of the death and disappearance of many people due to cloudburst and heavy rainfall in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu is extremely saddening," Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

SDRF team is present on the spot and relief and rescue work is going on... NDRF team has also been sent to rescue people...Buildings have been damaged. At least three people were killed and about 40 went missing after two separate incidents of cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh where rains washed away many houses and roads and left two hydro power projects damaged, officials said.
A home ministry official said Shah assured Sukhu that the central government will extend all help, including deployment of teams of the National Disaster Response Force, for rescue and relief operations.
The regional meteorological office has issued an 'orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, in isolated areas across all districts of Himachal Pradesh, except for Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti today.
The weather office also cautioned about the risk of landslides and flash floods in susceptible areas of Kullu, Solan, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Kinnaur districts. They also warned of potential damage to crops, plantations, fragile structures, and unpaved houses due to strong winds and waterlogging in low-lying regions.
