IndiGo flight 6E2006 from Delhi to Leh has returned to the national capital two hours after takeoff on June 19, due to a technical issue, according to a PTI report, citing a source.
Flight tracking website Flightradar24.com showed that the A320 aircraft turned back to Delhi after being in the air for two hours. The source said that the reason was a technical issue, as per the report.
In an official statement, reported by PTI, a spokesperson for the airline stated: “IndiGo flight 6E 2006 operating from Delhi to Leh on 19 June 2025, returned to origin due to a technical issue which caused operational restrictions to land in Leh. As per procedures, the pilot returned back to Delhi.”
“The aircraft is undergoing necessary maintenance before resuming operations. In the meanwhile, an alternative aircraft has been arranged to fly the customers to Leh,” the spokesperson said.
IndiGo added that it regretted the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
Details about the number of passengers onboard the flight was not immediately available.
Today's incident comes after passengers of Indigo flight 6E-6313 from Delhi to Raipur were stuck on the aircraft for close to 40 minutes after the door failed to open due to a technical slag on June 18 (yesterday), PTI reported.
Among those on the flight was former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey. Speaking to PTI over the phone, Choubey said the flight landed at Raipur at around 2.20 pm, but no one could get off for over 30 minutes because the door remained locked.
“When we asked about the reason for the delay in opening the door, the crew said there was some technical problem, and they were trying to open it. After 30 minutes, we asked them to seek assistance from the people outside. Then the people on the ground opened the door,” she shared, adding that passengers were not “scared” but anxious as “minor glitches also remind you” of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad on June 12.
A spokesperson for IndiGO acknowledged the slag, stating: “Flight 6E 6313, operating from Delhi to Raipur, experienced a delay in opening the aircraft door upon arrival on June 18, 2025, due to a minor technical issue. Following standard safety procedures, the door was opened after necessary checks were completed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate our customers' patience and understanding.”
