Mahakumbh Mela 2025 begins today: At the break of dawn today, more than 40 lakh devotees braved the chilling winter to take the first holy bath of Paush Purnima at Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers as part of the Mahakumbh Mela 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended their wishes on the beginning of the 45-day spiritual event.

Maha Kumbh 2025 commences in Prayagraj, bringing together countless people in a sacred confluence of faith, devotion and culture. The Maha Kumbh embodies India’s timeless spiritual heritage and celebrates faith and harmony,” read a post by Modi on X.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath, in a social media post, called Mahakumbh 2025 a symbol of “unity in diversity” as it provides an “encounter with Sanatan along the welfare of humanity.”

Mahakumbh 2025 goes digital! Kicks off amid heavy security and digital surveillance

The spiritual event began on Monday amid the presence of over 1,000 security officials of the UP Police and paramilitary forces. For effective crowd management, the administration will use AI cameras, drones, and Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) wristbands at the event.

Additionally, 56 dedicated cyber warriors and experts for cyber patrolling have been deployed at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. To prevent cyber fraud at the Kumbh Mela 2025, the UP Police have established a Mahakumbh cyber police station to counter cyber threats like fraudulent websites, social media scams, and fake links.

Mahakumbh 2025: 40 VMDs installed

To raise awareness about cyber threats, 40 Variable Messaging Displays (VMDs) have been installed in both fair areas.

In case of any emergency related to health or any accident, visitors at Mahakumbh can give a call to Mela Control & fire department at 100 / 112 /1920.

In a bid to enhance visitors' experience, 360-degree virtual reality stalls will show videos of major events like Peshwai (Grand procession of Akhadas), auspicious bathing days (snaan), and Ganga aarti via VR.
