The IMD has forecasted heavy rain in Maharashtra over three to four days. The MeT department indicated that heavy rain will impact the Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions from July 8 to July 10, 2024.

The high-capacity pumps installed at these locations were immediately put in service with staff monitoring the situation at all vulnerable locations. Due to these efforts, the train services could be run throughout the day without any interruption on any of the lines. Moreover, none of the long-distance mail express trains were rescheduled or cancelled, and they ran on schedule. This is a testament to the efforts put in by the Western Railway in multiple infra upgradation as well as monsoon preparedness works."

Mumbai rains LIVE : Mumbai's Powai Lake is overflowing as heavy rains have lashed the city for the last couple of days, a civic official said. The lake, which has a storage capacity of 545 crore litres, started overflowing at 4.45 am, the official said.
However, the water from the lake is not potable and is used only for industrial purposes.
BMC provides water, tea, biscuits, and other food items to stranded passengers at various railway stations.
"Traffic has resumed on all roads. Senior BMC officials are present at all waterlogging-prone spots in the city. The State Disaster Management Authority, NDRF, BMC are on alert. Traffic is running on Eastern and Western highways and all railway lines. NDRF teams have reached all three coastal districts in the state. BMC is yet to take a decision for the next session which will be announced after reviewing the situation.
