Delhi: Husband finds wife with another man in compromising position; here's what happens next

Revenge murder: A Delhi man, identified as Ajmat, has been arrested for killing his wife's lover after finding them together in his house, Shastri Park police told ANI on December 16. Ajmat beat his wife and her lover identified as 21-year-old Ritik Verma, mercilessly, as per a PTI report.

Verma was first taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, and was referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital after a check-up. At the time he was not in a position to give a statement, police said. They were later informed that Verma had succumbed to his injuries, the ANI report added.

“Today information was received at PS Shastri Park when the team reached the spot, they found the injured was taken to hospital by the relatives, the team reached JPC Hospital where the patient Ritik Verma (aged 21 years) was under treatment and after check-up, he was referred to Higher Centre i.e. GTB Hospital. The patient was not in a position to provide any statement. At around 9:00 pm, information from GTB Hospital was received at PS Shastri Park that the patient Ritik Verma had succumbed to his injuries,” as per the police statement.

What Happened?

The accused's wife was allegedly having an affair with deceased Verma for the last couple of months and Ajmal reportedly caught them together in a compromising position, the PTI report added.

The accused reached home and found the duo together, lost his temper and beat his wife and deceased unsparingly, police said. Verma was inflicted with a blunt wound on the forehead.

"On Monday at about 11 am, when he was caught with the woman at her home, her husband got angry and beat his wife and Ritik Verma black and blue," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Rakesh Paweriya told PTI.

Section of 103 (1) Bharat Nyay Sanhita (BNS) was added to the case after the victim's death. The case has been registered at Shatri Park police station and the probe has been initiated, the police said. According to police, the motive behind the murder was ‘revenge’.

What Family, Witnesses Say…

Verma's uncle Bunty told PTI the victim was beaten brutally, adding, “They also tore out Ritik's nails and tortured him badly. He had injuries on every part of his body.”

A neighbour told PTI that Ajmat assaulted both Verma and his wife. He added that more than one person beat Verma.
