The Indian Test captaincy has a vacancy and according to legendary off-spinner R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah deserves to wear the captain's armband.
On his YouTube show ‘Ash ki Baat’, Ashwin said: "I didn't have an idea both [Rohit and Kohli] would retire together. This will a testing time for Indian cricket, and I'll say this is truly now the beginning of the Gautam Gambhir era.

Former India legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has suggested the IPL ditch the loud music and cheerleaders as the league is set to resume on May 17. Gavaskar feels it would be more respectful for a toned-down end to the IPL 2025 in homage of the Indian lives lost in the recent conflict with Pakistan.
“What I would really like to see is. These are the last few matches we have had, about 60 games or thereabouts. I think it is the last 15 or 16 games. I would sincerely hope, because of what has happened and some families have lost their near and dear ones, I would like that there is no music. Let's not have the DJs screaming in the middle of an over,” the 1983 ODI World Cup winner is quoted as saying to Sports Today.
“None of that. Let the games be played. Let the crowds come in. Let's just have a tournament, the balance of a tournament. It's just no dancing girls, nothing. Just cricket would be a really nice way to respect the sentiment of the families who have lost their near and dear ones,” Gavaskar added.
Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta is the latest to pay tribute to Virat Kohli, who announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday.

"I wish him well and all the best for his future. Our current Indian players will have big shoes to fill cuz the likes of Virat, Rohit & Ashwin are not playing test cricket anymore," she wrote in response to a question on X.
