Monsoon rains: Intense monsoon rains in North India causing damage and loss of life continue, with alerts issued for flash floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Torrential rains have led to flooding and landslides, with several rivers in spate.

North Indian states witnessed an intense spell of monsoon rain, resulting in significant damage, loss of life, and property. The rain continue to lash in several parts of the North India today too. On Saturday, IMD issued a red alert for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh and an orange alert for three districts for the next 48 hours. IMD also issued alerts for flash floods, landslides in the state. In Delhi, a yellow alert has been issued for today.

The IMD has issued an orange and red alert for Uttarakhand, which means that there is a "very high risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall". The weather department has also issued a yellow alert for Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

On Sunday, torrential rains pounded several parts of north India with 19 people have been killed in landslides and other rain-related incidents, while most rivers, including the Yamuna in Delhi, were in spate. In cities and towns across the region, many roads and residential areas were submerged in knee-deep water with the civic system unable to hold on in the face of record rains.

In Himachal Pradesh, six people were stranded in the Nagwain village of Mandi due to the rise in the water level of the Beas River. In a late night rescue operation, the NDRF team rescued the six people.

-Light to moderate widespread rainfall with some rare instances of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Western Himalayan Region, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan on Monday. There is also possibility of isolated extremely heavy rainfall, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to be expected on July 10 and 12.

-Light to moderate rainfall with isolated instances of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur for next five days. 

-Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Odishsa on July 10 and 12. Monday, will be filled with heavy rainfall for the residents of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Bihar.

-Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Uttar Pradesh during 10th-13th July.

-Light/moderate widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Konkan and Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat state during next two days and decrease thereafter.

-Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over West Madhya Pradesh on 10th July.

-In South India, IMD has predicted light to moderate widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely to over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala during next four days.
