Operation Sindoor LIVE: Social media company X has started blocking access to over 8,000 accounts in India after receiving executive orders from the Indian government, reported the company's Global Government Affairs team.

According to the report, the orders mention that if X does not block these accounts, the company could face heavy fines, and its local staff could even be sent to prison. Read more

Operation Sindoor LIVE: Multiple airlines issued travel advisory late on Thursday evening. Air India said that check-in will close 75 minutes before departure. “Passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure,” it said. 

Akasa Air in a post on X said, “…we request you to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure… all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks before boarding.”

IndiGo requested passengers to allow extra time to accommodate security checks. Read more

Sounds resembling blasts caused panic in Jammu city late on Thursday evening as security forces detected Pakistani drones near the heavily-guarded airport here, officials said.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Multiple loud explosions were heard in Jammu on Thursday evening, a Hindustan Times report said. The explosion comes a day after India carried out strikes on nine terror camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

It is still unclear what caused the explosion. There are panic among locals after the explosions which were preceded by air raid sirens and blackouts, the report added.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Thursday, in a rather sarcastic jibe, rebutted Pakistan's claims that they had shot down Indian jets. Misri remarked, “There is nothing surprising in it. After all, this is a country in which lies started as soon as it was born.”

Pakistan had claimed it shot down five Indian Air Force jets, including three Rafale fighters, a MiG-29, and a Su-30, during retaliatory strikes following India's military operation, Operation Sindoor, inside Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Read more

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: All government and private schools of Baramulla, Kupwara, Sub-Division (Gurez) and schools falling in the proximity of Srinagar and Awantipora Airport will remain closed on May 9 and 10, 2025 as precautionary measures, a notification by the Director School Education, Kashmir, said on Thursday.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on May 8 that any further action by Pakistan, is nothing but escalation and will be responded to and is being responded to appropriately. Misri repeated that original escalation was seen in Pahalgam, and that India is responding in restrained manner.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Thursday said that the retaliatory actions of Pakistan is impacting civilians, referring to the fresh cross-border firing at the Line of Control (LoC). 

Families living near the LoC in the Akhnoor sector have been forced to leave their homes once again due to ongoing cross-border firing and to take shelter at safer places, an ANI report said on Thursday. 

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan has been pursuing cross-border terrorism against India for decades. Misri, along with Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, was addressing the media at a Ministry of External Affairs briefing on Thursday. 

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: During the Ministry of External Affairs briefing on Thursday, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response.

The Colonel was referring to Pakistan's attempt to engage several Indian military targets using drones and missiles on the intervening night of May 7-8. These drones were effectively neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: A Ministry of Information and Broadcasting advisory, issued on Thursday, directed all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms, and intermediaries to discontinue streaming all Pakistani-origin content. 

“In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect,” the ministry said in a statement. 

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: After reports of "drone explosions, downed drones, and possible airspace incursions," the US has asked its citizens to leave Lahore or "shelter-in-place."

The US Consulate in a statement also advised its citizens to have evacuation plans that do not rely on US government assistance, carry up-to-date and easily accessible travel documents, monitor local media for updates, carry proper identification, and cooperate with authorities, an ANI report said. 

"Due to reports of drone explosions, downed drones, and possible airspace incursions in and near Lahore, the US Consulate General in Lahore has directed all consulate personnel to shelter-in-place," the statement said.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Several flights scheduled for arrival and departures from Delhi Airport were cancelled on Thursday due to the closure of airspace, said airport sources.

These 90 cancelled flights include 46 domestic departures and 33 domestic arrival flights while it included five international departure and six international arrival flights. These cancelled flights were scheduled between 8 am and 2 pm, an ANI report said. 

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: The Punjab government have issued directives under the Civil Defence Act, 1968, to enforce a complete blackout in the Gurdaspur district from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, effective from May 8, 2025, until further orders.

The statement released reads, "Due to a sensitive environment on the Indo-Pak border, guidelines of the Government of India and the Government of Punjab. According to this, further orders will be issued from 08.05.2025 to deal with the emergency situation under the Civil Defense Act 1968. From 9.00 pm to 5.00 am the next day, there will be complete "black out" in district Gurdaspur. This order will not be applicable in Central Jail Gurdaspur and hospitals. Though, the windows of Gurdaspur jail and hospitals will be closed every day from 9.00 pm to 5.00 am the next day."

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Union Minister Jitendra Singh met Jammu's Divisional Commissioner, along with District Magistrate (DM) of Kahtua, Samba, Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri districts on Thursday. 

Singh, in a post on X, said that he “held a detailed review of the administrative arrangements and public confidence building measures in the wake of the developments of the last two days”.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Authorities in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Thursday prohibited flying of drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Leh district, citing credible inputs and security concerns about their “potential misuse” by anti-national elements.

District Magistrate of Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, ordered the prohibition on flying of drones and UAVs by locals, tourists, or private persons and said any violation of the order shall attract strict legal action under relevant laws, news agency PTI reported. 

"This order is issued ex-parte in the interest of public safety and security and shall remain in force until further notice," he said.

Operation Sindoor 2.0 LIVE: Pakistan attempted to target several Indian military targets using drones and missiles on the intervening night of May 7-8. These drones were effectively neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces, a Ministry of Defence statement said.

In response, Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems in various locations in Pakistan, the statement added. 

“Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks,” it said.

“Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised,” it added.
