PM Modi US visit Highlights: ‘For India, one earth, one family and one future is a commitment’, PM Modi at UNGA

PM Modi US visit LIVE updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Summit of the Future (SOTF) today at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Earlier the SOTF director Michele Griffin said India is a major voice for pushing for the change that the Summit envisages.

PM Modi US visit LIVE updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Summit of the Future (SOTF) on Monday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Earlier the SOTF director Michele Griffin said India is a major voice for pushing for the change that the Summit envisages.

“India is a major voice on the world stage and major voice of the global south. One huge purpose of this Summit is actually to really to make sure that international cooperation represents and serves the people of the global south much more effectively than it has been doing so far. So, whether that's on Security Council reform and looking at how the Security Council functions or how the international financial architecture functions. India has been a huge voice in pushing for the kinds of change that this Summit holds to deliver," Griffin said. 

PM Modi on Sunday addressed the Indian community in New York's Nassau Coliseum and called them India's 'strong' brand ambassador. The Prime Minister said that he has set very ambitious goals in his third term to make the country a developed nation and asserted that India today is a land of opportunities. The Prime Minister added that India doesn't want its supremacy in the world but to increase cooperation for the prosperity of the world. 

The next Quad Leaders’ Summit hosted by India in 2025. Besides, Mumbai may host a Quad Regional Ports and Transportation Conference in 2025, a White House press release said.

PM Modi, who landed at Philadelphia International Airport, was welcomed by Indian community with cultural dance performances. The Prime Minister met US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Quad summit to deepen India-US relations. Modi will be hold bilateral meetings with other leaders as well and will be attending the Quad summit. He is also expected to meet US presidential candidate Donald Trump ahead of US elections in November.
