Following his historic address to the Indian diaspora at Nassau Coliseum in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the city on Monday.

In a post on X, PM Modi thanked the New York crowd who were present at the event and shared pictures from the memorable community programme.

"Thank you, New York! These are glimpses from the memorable community programme. Grateful to all those who joined," he wrote.

PM Modi is currently visiting the United States. On Sunday, he spoke at the "Modi and US" event held at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. The gathering attracted around 15,000 members of the Indian diaspora from 42 states, who came together to extend a warm welcome to the Prime Minister.

While addressing the people, the Prime Minister said Our Namaste has become multi-national, has gone from local to global, only because of you. The warmth and energy of the Indian diaspora in New York is unparalleled.

He also said, “AI also means American-Indian spirit. This is the new 'AI' power of the world. The same AI spirit is taking India-US relations to new heights. I salute Indian diaspora.

He also announced that India will open new consulates in two American cities — Boston and Los Angeles. India currently has six consulates in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Besides this, the Indian Embassy is in capity city of Washington DC, and India's Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) is based in New York City.

Following his address, the Prime Minister also held bilateral talks with the Nepali Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in New York, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

While speaking to the Palestinian President, he expressed his "deep concern" at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reaffirmed India's continued support to the Palestinian people and also held talks with Kuwait's Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
