Republic Day 2025: India will celebrate Republic Day with a unique blend of India’s rich cultural diversity on January 26, 2025. The nation eagerly waits to witness the grand Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path near the India Gate, New Delhi on Sunday.

The Republic Day parade, stretching from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, will feature contingents of the Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary forces.

The parade will also feature tableaux from various states, signifying the country's rich cultural diversity. The day is observed every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on January 26, 1950.

Around 10,000 Special Guests have been invited to witness the parade, in line with the Government’s objective to increase ‘Jan Bhagidari’ in events of national importance.

Is it the 76th or 77th Republic Day on January 26?

On January 26, 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect, affirming India as a democratic republic. The first anniversary of being a republic was celebrated on January 26, 1951. This year, India will celebrate 75 years since the adoption of the constitution.

Counting from 1950 as the first Republic Day, India will commemorate its 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025. 

Republic Day Parade 2025 highlights

This year's Republic Day celebration revolves around the theme of ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’. Every year, Indian government decides a particular theme for the celebration.

This year's theme focuses on India's rich culture and heritage and its progress over the years.

For Republic Day 2025, 15 states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, will present their tableaux on Kartavya Path parade. 

In addition, 11 central government contingents will feature in the grand Republic Day 2025 parade.

Republic Day Parade 2025 chief guest

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is expected to be the chief guest at  the 76th Republic Day celebration on January 26, 2025, reported ANI.

While confirmation is awaited, the newly elected Indonesian president's visit to India would coincide with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Cultural Performance

5,000 artists in a title of ‘Jayati Jaya Mamaḧ Bharatam’ will perform over 45 dance forms from different part of the country in a 11-minute cultural performance. For the first time, the performance will cover the entire Kartavya Path - from Vijay Chowk to C hexagon - to ensure that all guests get the same viewing experience.
