Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra claims that the Indian Cricket Team won the semi finals on Tuesday as he did not watch the match.
"Of course I didn’t.
And as a result, we won…" Mahindra wrote.
His response comes after an X user asked him not watch the match.
“Pls don't watch #IndvsAus (sic),” the user wrote.
One of the users pointed out superstitions are an essential part of Sports.
“Funny how sports have this unexplainable connection with superstitions. Sachin Tendulkar stayed in the dressing room during the final moments of the 2011 World Cup due to superstition. He believed continuing his behaviour from a previous match (not watching) would help maintain luck,” wrote the user.
Several social media users have reacted to Mahindra's post, and most of them have asked not to watch the finals on Sunday.
One of the users commented, “Don’t watch again on Sunday please.”
“This should be considered highest level of sacrifice in sports,” added another.
"Your sacrifice is much appreciated, sir,” another user said.
However, one of the users motivated Anand Mahindra to watch despite the consequences.
“Sir ji. Please watch India matches , don’t worry about the result “ What matters is the Action. This is said in all the scriptures,” wrote the user.
On Tuesday, India won by four wickets against Australia in the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. The team will face South Africa or New Zealand in the final.
Following India's victory, fans praised Virat Kohli's performance, who was named player of the match.
Speaking on the match, Virat said, “It was pretty similar to the other day against Pakistan. It is about understanding the conditions and rotating the strike because partnerships on its pitch are important. it all depends on the conditions and then I play my innings. My timing, my composure at the crease, I wasn't rushed. The singles that I took was the most pleasing part for me.”
He further added, “This game is all about pressure. If you go deep into the game, the opposition usually give in. It is important to control your impulses. Even if the RR is six an over, I am not bothered. [Best he has ever played?] I don't know. That is up to you guys to break down. I have never focused on those things. When you don't think of those milestones, they happen. If I get to the three-figure mark, great, but the win is important. For me, those things don't matter anymore.”
