Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday amid escalating protests and arrived at the Hindon Air Base near New Delhi aboard a C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh newspaper Prothom Alo reported that Awami League's Dhaka district office was set on fire by the agitators. The agitators started the fire around 4 pm on Monday.
The agitators also set on fire Awami League president Sheikh Hasina's office at 3/A Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Protesters were seen chanting slogans and celebrating the news of Sheikh Hasina's resignation.
The protests in Bangladesh, primarily led by students, initially called for abolishing a quota system for government jobs but escalated into a broader uprising against Prime Minister Hasina and her ruling Awami League party. On Sunday, clashes in Dhaka resulted in at least 95 deaths, including 14 police officers, and left hundreds more injured, according to local media outlet Prothom Alo.

At least eight people were killed and 84 others were wounded on Monday after unidentified arsonists set fire to a residential hotel in Bangladesh's Jessore, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Shahin Chakladar, general secretary of Jashore district Awami League, owned the hotel targeted by arsonists. Deputy Commissioner Abrarul Islam confirmed the news of the arson attack.
Miscreants attacked, vandalised and set fire to at least six police stations in Chittagong, looting weapons, bullets and various equipment. In addition, Awami League leaders and activists' homes and officers were targeted, Dhaka Tribune reported.
After the report of Sheikh Hasina's resignation, agitated crowds have taken to the streets in celebration. Later, police stations in Chandgaon, Patenga, EPZ, Kotowali, Akbar Shah, and Pahartali under the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) were attacked, vandalised, and set on fire. (ANI)

Sheikh Hasina has resigned as the Bangladesh PM and left her residence in Dhaka, amid massive protests in her country.
Government calls an all-party meeting at 10 AM today on the Bangladesh issue. EAM Dr S Jaishankar to brief the meeting, ANI reported.
“Hasina in order to please Islamists threw me out of my country in 1999 after I entered Bangladesh to see my mother in her deathbed and never allowed me to enter the country again. The same Islamists have been in the student movement who forced Hasina to leave the country today," said famous author Taslima Nasreen in a post on X.
In another post, Nasreen wrote, “Hasina had to resign and leave the country. She was responsible for her situation. She made Islamists to grow. She allowed her people to involve in corruption. Now Bangladesh must not become like Pakistan. Army must not rule.Political parties should bring democracy & secularism."
Nasreen was forced to leave Bangladesh in 1994 due to death threats from fundamentalist groups in response to her book Lajja. Although the 1993 book was banned in Bangladesh, it became a bestseller in other countries.
"There is no provision within our Immigration rules for someone to be allowed to travel to the UK to seek asylum or temporary refuge," said UK Home Office on whether Former #Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has sought political asylum, if she has been given the permission to land in the UK, reported CNBC-TV18.
As the Bangladesh situation snowballed into a major political turmoil on Monday, a former Indian high commissioner to Dhaka has cautioned that India will have to be "very vigilant" on the border in the wake of the crisis even as he asserted that New Delhi will be "prepared for all eventualities".
Pankaj Saran, a veteran diplomat and former envoy of India to Bangladesh during whose tenure the historic Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) was ratified by the Indian parliament in 2015, said one cannot say when would things settle down in the neighbouring country.

Bangladesh's army chief will meet student protest leaders on Tuesday as the country awaits the formation of a new government a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country following a violent uprising against her rule, Reuters reported.
Student leaders, who spearheaded a movement against job quotas that turned into a call for Hasina to resign, said early on Tuesday that they want a new interim government with Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus as its chief adviser.
"Any government other than the one we recommended would not be accepted," Nahid Islam, one the key organisers of the students movement, said in a video on Facebook with three other organisers. "We wouldn't accept any army-supported or army-led government." (Reuters)

It is important that we focus on the Bangladeshi people's democratic aspirations and see a path to democratic governance..."
Leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have proposed an interim government led by Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, in a bid to address Bangladesh's ongoing challenge, Dhaka Tribune reported.
This announcement was made in a video message released early hours of Tuesday by key student leaders Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, and Abu Bakar Mazumdar.
Earlier on Monday night, Nahid had announced that an outline for an interim government would be formulated within the next 24 hours, as per Dhaka Tribune. (ANI)
In regards to financial support given to Bangladesh, US State Department Spokesperson, Matthew Miller says, "With respect to financial support in fiscal year 2023 the United States provided over 212 million dollars in bilateral economic development and health assistance to Bangladesh...We would like to see them continue because they're important to our relationship with the people of Bangladesh...We have provided nearly 2 billion dollars in humanitarian assistance to support Rohingya refugees since August of 2017"
On Sheikh Hasina's resignation as Bangladesh PM, Former Chief of Army Staff Shankar Roychowdhury says, "When a neighbouring country has widespread disturbance this is a cause for concern. It is a challenge and we have to be very careful...All measures are based on intelligence..."
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said his mother would not make a political comeback as she is "deeply disappointed" by the uprising against her leadership despite her efforts for the betterment of Bangladesh, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Joy, who served as an official adviser to the former prime minister until Monday, said in an interview with a British public service broadcaster's Newshour program that Sheikh Hasina had been contemplating resignation since Sunday and had left the country for her safety following pressure from her family.
"She has turned Bangladesh around. When she took over power it was considered a failing state. It was a poor country. Until today it was considered one of the rising tigers of Asia," Joy said, defending his mother's record in office, Dhaka Tribune reported. (ANI)
UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy expressed concern regarding the Bangladesh situation and stated that everyone needs to work together to end this violence.
Further, he also urged for a full and independent investigation, led by the United Nations, into the recent events in Bangladesh.
