Sheikh Hasina Resignation highlights: Bangladesh is currently experiencing a volatile political climate following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation amid escalating protests.

Sheikh Hasina Resignation highlights: Leaders of the Opposition in both Houses, Mallikarjun Kharge (Rajya Sabha) and Rahul Gandhi (Lok Sabha), attended an all-party meeting convened by the central government on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Bangladesh.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar convened and briefed on the current developments. 

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday amid escalating protests and arrived at the Hindon Air Base near New Delhi aboard a C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh newspaper Prothom Alo reported that Awami League's Dhaka district office was set on fire by the agitators. The agitators started the fire around 4 pm on Monday.

The agitators also set on fire Awami League president Sheikh Hasina's office at 3/A Dhanmondi in Dhaka. Protesters were seen chanting slogans and celebrating the news of Sheikh Hasina's resignation.

The protests in Bangladesh, primarily led by students, initially called for abolishing a quota system for government jobs but escalated into a broader uprising against Prime Minister Hasina and her ruling Awami League party. On Sunday, clashes in Dhaka resulted in at least 95 deaths, including 14 police officers, and left hundreds more injured, according to local media outlet Prothom Alo.

Bangladesh's army chief will meet student protest leaders on Tuesday as the country awaits the formation of a new government a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country following a violent uprising against her rule, Reuters reported.

Student leaders, who spearheaded a movement against job quotas that turned into a call for Hasina to resign, said early on Tuesday that they want a new interim government with Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus as its chief adviser.
