India vs South Africa Highlights: Virat, Pandya, Bumrah lead India lift second T20 World Cup

India vs South Africa Highlights: India lifted the second T20 World Cup at Barbados' Kensington Oval on 29 June while playing the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. India posted a target of 177 runs and won by 7 runs.

India vs South Africa Highlights: India lifted the second T20 World Cup at Barbados' Kensington Oval on 29 June after a gap of 17 years while playing the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. India posted a target of 177 runs and won by 7 runs. Rohit Sharma has managed to end India's 11-year trophy drought for an ICC Trophy. 

Chasing 177 runs at the Barbados' Kensington Oval, South Africa could only score 169/8 in 20 overs against India and lost by 7 runs in the the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

For South Africa, Quinton de Kock (39), Tristan Stubbs (31), and Heinrich Klaasen (52) scored very important runs.

But for India, Hardik Pandya took three wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, while Axar Patel picked one wicket each.

Jasprit was awarded the 'palyer of the series' as he clicked 15 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah wins player of the series award after he picked up 15 wickets. His economy in the T20 World Cup 2024 was 4.17, which is the best in T20 World Cup tournaments.

After winning the toss at Barbados' Kensington Oval on 29 June while playing the ICC Men's T20 World Cup final against South Africa, India scored 176/7 runs and posted a target of 177 runs for South Africa to chase. With this, India registered the highest ever total in a T20 world cup final.

For India, Virat Kohli scored a whopping 76 off 59 runs, while Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) contributed some important runs. Virat Kohli registered the highest individual score for India in a T20 World Cup final.

For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets each, while Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada clinched one wicket each.

After being honoured with the 'player of the match award', India's star player Virat Kohli announced his retirement from the T20I cricket.

"This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel like you can't get a run and this happens, God is great. Just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup," Cricbuzz quoted Kohli as saying.

Rohit Sharma-led India faced off against Aiden Markram's South Africa at the Kensington Oval stadium in Barbados for the title of next T20 World champions. 

The Proteas were playing their first ever T20 World Cup final while the Men in Blue, who held the prestigious trophy in 2007, are playing first final of tournament since 2014. As South Africa aim to clinch their first-ever T20 World Cup trophy and India seeks to end a 11-year-long drought for an ICC trophy, viewers were likely to get an enthralling contest. 

While there has been no rain delay to the toss and start of play, the match may be interrupted in between owing to rainfall. In such a case, the penultimate clash can be extended by up to 120 minutes while there is also provision for a reserve day on June 30.
