Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could see wholesome changes in their coaching staff in the upcoming season as head coach Chandrakant Pandit is unlikely to get an extension after the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The defending champions are placed seventh in the IPL 2025 points table with seven points.
According to a Revsportz report, things aren't good inside the KKR dressing room as Pandit is facing the heat for the team's performance in the IPL 2025. Although, a mid-season sacking is unlikely, the report stated that there will be some developments after the season is over. Meanwhile, Nayar might get a big role, based on the report.
Nayar was a part of the KKR support staff during their title-winning campaign last year. He then left KKR to join the Indian national team as an assistant coach. However, his stay in the Indian cricket was shortlived as Nayar was sacked by the BCCI.
A day after his sacking from BCCI, Nayar joined KKR. With Dwayne Bravo already in a mentorship role, it is still unclear on what designation Nayar rejoined the three-time champions.
Notably, Pandit has five games to save his job. Five wins from five games would put KKR on 17 points which would be enough for them to secure a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. KKR have won five or more straight games in the past and the question lies, can they do it this year?
Meanwhile, former KKR captain Eoin Morgan is in KKR's radar to become the head coach, replacing Pandit, according to the report. Morgan was England ODI World Cup winning captain in 2019 and had also led KKR to final in 2021 IPL.
