The hearing of the Court of Arbitration for Sports in the case has been concluded. The Court of Arbitration had been slated to announce the final verdict in the case on Saturday at 6 pm Paris Time (ie 9:30 pm IST). This has now been deferred to August 11, but expected by 9:30 PM IST on 13 August.

The 29-year-old Vinesh was disqualified ahead of the gold-medal bout for being 100gm overweight above the prescribed limit in the morning weigh-in, crushing her Olympic dream. The heartbreak prompted her to announce her retirement from wrestling.
"I don't know the exact rule, but I'm sure that when she reached the finals, she must have qualified properly," Ganguly told reporters when asked for his opinion on the matter on the sidelines of the Kolkata Food Festival here. (PTI)

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday appealed to the state government to give all the benefits of the gold medalist to ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat.
It comes after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) extended the deadline till Tuesday to deliver its verdict on whether to award a silver medal to Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the Paris Olympics.
Speaking to ANI, Hooda said, "Whatever the decision comes, our appeal to the Haryana government is that Vinesh Phogat should be given the respect and reward of a gold medallist." (ANI)

Olympic gold medalist Amit Elor is one such wrestler who highlighted the unnecessary physical and mental toll of weight cutting practices on athletes.
According to her weight cutting should not be promoted or encouraged, adding it may negatively impact an athlete's performance.
Speaking to USA TODAY Sports, she said, "It’s something that a lot of times, if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, it can be really promoted and it’s very unnecessary − especially from a young age."
