New Delhi: Aditya Birla Chemicals Ltd (ABCL) on Monday said the company has completed the acquisition of the chlor-alkali division of Jayshree Chemicals Ltd (JCL). The chlor-alkali division of Jayshree chemicals comprises caustic soda manufacturing unit at Ganjam in Odisha and salt manufacturing facility at Pundi in Andhra Pradesh. “..henceforth the said division is part and unit of the company and unit at Ganjam has been named as Aditya Birla Chemicals (India) Ltd - Ganjam Chemical Division,” ABCL said in a regulatory filing.
In September last year, the company had said it will acquire the chlor-alkali division of JCL for a cash consideration of ₹ 212 crore. JCL’s chlor-alkali division has capacity of 57,000 tonnes per annum located at Ganjam in Odisha. It also has about 1,600 acres of salt works in Andhra Pradesh. At the time of announcing the acquisition, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla had said that this would solidify the group’s position as the country’s largest producer of chlor-alkali and bolsters caustic soda supply, a critical input for the aluminium business.
Aditya Birla Chemicals is a leading chlor-alkali company established in 1984. For effective utilisation of chlorine, the company is a one of the manufacturers various chlorine derivatives as value added products.
