Kokuyo Camlin to set up Rs100 crore factory in Maharashtra

The investment by the firm will be one of the biggest for Kokuyo worldwide; factory is expected to open in 2016

Mumbai: Stationery products maker Kokuyo Camlin Ltd on Monday said it will build a 100 crore factory in Maharashtra to make markers, mechanical pencils, fine leads and pens.

The investment by the company, formerly known as Camlin Ltd, will be one of the biggest for Kokuyo worldwide. The factory is expected to open in 2016.

Kojuyo S&T of Japan had bought a majority stake in Camlin in October 2011.

The company is also in the midst of restructuring and streamlining its production to reduce cost and consolidate its existing production capacity, the company said in a press release.

Kokuyo Camlin also plans to add other warehouse functions to correspond with its expansion plans in India. The factory will be environment-friendly and it plans to use solar energy and water conservation systems in the new plant, the company said.
