Delhi-San Francisco Air India flight update: Several passengers posted complaints on X after Air India's Delhi-to-San Francisco flight made a precautionary landing at Krasnoyarsk International Airport (KJA) in Russia on July 18. The carrier said they expected the replacement flight from Mumbai to Russia to arrive today at KJA at 8 pm (local time).
Air India said the ferry flight was also carrying other essentials, including extra food for the passengers.
Earlier, Air India announced that it was arranging for third-party support, as it did not have its own staff at KJA airport.
The airline said they were in touch with local government authorities to provide necessary assistance to the passengers.
However, one affected passenger posted on X, saying they were not being taken care of. “Despite their claims, we are not taken care of. We feel stranded at the airport. We have no food, information, or updates,” he posted, along with visuals from the KJA airport.
Another social media user commented that his ailing mother was travelling on this flight and that her medicines and other essentials were in her carry-on bags on the plane. He said it had been over eight hours since they received any updates from the aircraft operators.
“My mother is sick, and their carry-on (medicine and snacks) and luggage is on the flight. This is inhumane for 70+ old people. We can do better. I am so sad and angry,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, another user accused Air India of not providing hotel accommodation to the affected passengers. “You have kept all your passengers at the airport. No hotel accommodation. No information on alternative flight,” he said.
On July 18, the cockpit crew detected a potential issue in the cargo hold area of the San Francisco-bound flight from Delhi. The aircraft landed safely at the KJA with all 225 passengers and 19 members of the flight crew.
