Rajendra Meghwar from Pakistan is making headlines as the first Hindu officer to join the Pakistan Police Service (PSP). This historic appointment marks the first time a Hindu officer has been assigned to such an important position since the establishment of the Punjab Police.

Breaking barriers and setting an example, this young man assumed his duties as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Gulberg area of Faisalabad on December 6, the country's newspaper Pakistan Today reported.

The Hindu officer, hailing from Badin, achieved this milestone by defying the odds and successfully qualifying for the Civil Services Examination (CSS). Despite belonging to a minority community, he pursued his dream of joining the police force with determination. His journey to success was fraught with challenges, as he came from a rural area in Sindh province that faced significant economic disadvantages, the report said.

His efforts paid off, and his long-held dream of serving his community came true, symbolizing Pakistan’s growing inclusivity and societal progress, the Pakistan Today report said. 

ASP Rajendra Meghwar said that working in the police force will give him a chance to make significant contributions to his community, especially minorities, which is not possible in other government departments, as per the Pakistan Today report.

He added, “By being in the police, we can directly solve the problems of the people, which we cannot do in other departments." According to his colleagues, Rajendra Meghwar’s presence will address the concerns of minority communities, fostering greater inclusivity within the force and also help improve law and order.

Another member of Pakistan’s minority community passes the CSS exam

Another notable achievement recorded alongside Rajendra Meghwar’s appointment was that of Roopmati, another member of Pakistan’s minority community. Roopmati, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan also qualified the CSS exam. As per the report, Roopmati strives to present a progressive image of Pakistan internationally and is eager to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfil her dream.
