On being elected as the leader of Delhi AAP Legislative Party, Atishi had said, “First of all, I would like to thank the popular CM of Delhi, AAP national convener and my guru - Arvind Kejriwal. He gave me such a huge responsibility and trusted me for it. This can be done only in AAP, only under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, that a first-time politician becomes the CM of a state. I come from an ordinary family. Had I been in any other party, perhaps I would not have been given even an election ticket. But Arvind Kejriwal trusted me, made me an MLA and a minister and today gave me the responsibility of the CM. I am happy that Arvind Kejriwal placed such trust in me. But I am also sad because Delhi CM and my elder brother, Arvind Kejriwal is resigning today. On behalf of all AAP MLAs and the 2 crore people of Delhi, I would like to say that there is just one CM of Delhi - Arvind Kejriwal."

Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: Punjab Minister Anmol Gagan Maan reacted on AAP legislator Atishi becoming CM-designate and said, as quoted by ANI, "Atishi is a talented and brave leader...Arvind Kejriwal's decision is very good...He has decided to give 'Agnipariksha' and he will go between the public..."
Reacting on the Arvind Kejriwal row as Delhi CM and nominating Atishi for the post, Congress' Delhi chief Devender Yadav said that AAP are now completely exposed in front of the people.
He said, as quoted by ANI, "...They (AAP) are now completely exposed in front of the people. If he (Arvind Kejriwal) had resigned on moral grounds, he would have done it long ago. Now, when the court has restricted him, then he is forced to resign. Despite all of this, today he is saying that people will decide. The people can be emotional. But whether you are guilty or not, will be decided by court..."
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj commented on AAP legislator Atishi becoming Delhi CM-designate after Arvind Kejriwal resigned. She said, as quoted by ANI, "I congratulate Atishi as her party has chosen her as the next CM. But I am disheartened by her statements. She said that Delhi has only one CM, Arvind Kejriwal. Does it mean that she will only get the designation and not the responsibilities of a CM? Does it mean Arvind Kejriwal will enjoy the power without any responsibilities?... I request the people of Delhi to elect BJP's government in the upcoming elections..."
Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: CPM leader Brinda Karat while reacting on Atishi becoming Delhi CM--designate, hoped that the AAP leader would listen to the voice of the people of Delhi, the voice of the poor, the voice of the workers and will work to get justice for the people of Delhi.
Karat said, as quoted by ANI, "In the circumstances under which Atishi has become the Chief Minister, she herself said it is very sad that Arvind ji had to resign today. She said, as quoted by ANI, "...Today Arvind Kejriwal has submitted his resignation. Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: Following Arvind Kejriwal's resignation to Lt Governor and leaving the LG Secretariat, AAP leader Gopal Rai said that all AAP MLAs have together decided upon nominating Atishi as the new CM, adding, Atishi has staked claim to form the government.

Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: Reacting to Atishi becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi after Kejriwal's resignation, state BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged that from now on an 'anti-national government will operate' in Delhi.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Virendra Sachdeva said, as PTI quoted, "Arvind Kejriwal has pushed Delhi to anarchy after announcing Atishi Marlena's name. There's a reason behind it... A mercy petition was submitted to the President for Afzal Guru and her parents signed it. Now, in Delhi, not just a corrupt government, but an anti-national government will operate."

Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: AAP MP Swati Maliwal reacted on Atishi being chosen as Delhi CM and called this as ‘extremely unfortunate day for Delhi’. She alleged that Atishi's family had fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from death penalty.
She said, as quoted by ANI, "This is an extremely unfortunate day for Delhi. A woman like Atishi is going to become the CM of Delhi, whose own family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from death penalty. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the President several times, that he is innocent, that he should not be hanged, that he is a victim of political conspiracy. How wrong is this? Arvind Kejriwal Resignation Live: BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on 17 September called Atishi ‘dummy CM’ after she was chosen to replace Arvind Kejriwal. Addressing a press conference, he said, as quoted by ANI, "Unfortunately, first Delhi had a 'jailwala' CM who ran the government from jail, and became the 'bailwala' CM later. Now there will be a dummy CM. The word 'dummy CM' is not mine, it is of Saurabh Bharadwaj and Somnath Bharti... He said, as quoted by ANI, "Many congratulations to Atishi for being the new CM. We will support her in the development of Delhi. Senior AAP leader Atishi will be Delhi’s new chief minister, the party unanimously agreed on Tuesday after Arvind Kejriwal proposed her name as his successor in a meeting of the party's legislators.
The 43-year-old who holds 14 portfolios, including finance, education and revenue and was amongst those holding the fort while Kejriwal was in jail, will be the third woman chief minister of Delhi after Congress’ Sheila Dikshit and BJP’s Sushma Swaraj.
Kejriwal will meet Lt Governor V K Saxena at Raj Niwas at 4.30 pm to tender his resignation as chief minister, paving the way for Atishi's appointment as his successor. (PTI)
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday in a meeting of party MLAs proposed the name of Atishi to be his successor. She was subsequently elected as leader of Delhi AAP Legislative Party, as per sources.
Addressing a legislature party meeting at his residence in the national capital, Kejriwal made the proposal and the MLAs have supported him, sources said. (ANI)

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Bansuri Swaraj said on Monday that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should have resigned 177 days ago if his decision was based on morality.
On Sunday, Kejriwal announced that he would resign from the post of Chief Minister after two days.
"The court, seeing his involvement in the scam, did not consider him fit to be the CM and this was also his bail condition. He cannot sign any file nor can he go to the CM's residence. Due to this helplessness, he has created a political pretence by giving the cover of morality by announcing the resignation," she said. (ANI)
AAP leader Sandeep Pathak on Monday said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal does not have greed for power and honour is paramount for him.
He has vowed not to sit on the chief minister's chair till people give him a "certificate of honesty", he added.
Pathak, Rajya Sabha MP and the party's general secretary (organisation) said this in Jind, where he held a meeting with party leaders and prepared a module of AAP's campaign for the next fifteen days for the October 5 Haryana polls.
Later speaking to reporters, Pathak said party workers will go to every home and tell people that they have given several chances to other parties which have "failed to live up to their expectations". (PTI)
The BJP's Delhi president Virender Sachdeva on Monday said AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's decision to resign as chief minister was borne out of "compulsion" and not driven by "principle".
Sachdeva also alleged that none of the Delhi government departments was free of corruption under Kejriwal's rule.
Responding to Sachdeva, AAP alleged that the Delhi BJP chief did nothing but held press conferences and spread false propaganda against the party. (PTI)
