The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will resume on May 17 after a week-long pause due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the organisers announced on Monday. The IPL 2025 was suspended for a week on May 9, post India's 'Operation Sindoor', as Indian Armed Forces launched missiles on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
The remaining 17 matches will be played across six venues - Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mumbai. In the revised IPL 2025 schedule, two double headers will played on two Sundays.
However, the venues of the playoffs matches have not been announced yet. The BCCI will announce the venue details for playoff matches at a later date. The Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals clash, which was called off in Dharamshala on May 8 midway, will be replayed on May 24.
In the revised schedule, the dates for playoffs are May 29 (Qualifier 1), Eliminator (May 30), Qualifier 2 (June 1) and final (June 3). Kolkata Knight Riders will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 17 in the first match of the revised IPL 2025 schedule.
