Jasprit Bumrah becomes Mumbai Indians' leading wicket-taker in IPL, overtakes Lasith Malinga

Jasprit Bumrah became the leading wicket-taker of Mumbai Indians in IPL. The Ace pacer took the record from Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga.

MI vs LSG, IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians smashed 215/7 in their 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton (58 off 32) and Suryakumar (54 off 28) scored brisk half centuries. Both batters hit four sixes each. Suryakumar Yadav took the orange cap from GT batter Sai Sudharsan. Suryakumar has scored 427 runs at a strike rate of 169 in IPL 2025.

Naman Dhir (25* off 11) and debutant Corbin Bosch's (20 off 10) late hitting took Mumbai Indians to a challenging total. LSG pacer Mayank Yadav took 2/40 on his first match of the IPL season. 

LSG started well in the chase, scoring 60 runs in the powerplay. Things went south in one over for the visiting side. Will Jacks was brought on to bowl the 7th over to counter Nicholas Pooran, the left-hander. Jacks delivered two wickets in a space of three balls, dismissing Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant. Jasprit Bumrah (4/22) and Trent Boult (3/20) were simply too hot for the LSG batters to handle. Bumrah became the leading wicket-taker for MI with his first wicket of the match. Boult jumped to 4th in the purple cap race with his three-wicket haul.

Mumbai Indians moved to 2nd in the points table after their 150th win in IPL and will finish the day at the 3rd place as the winner of Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru will overtake MI. LSG's third loss in four games keeps them in the 6th place.
